The Parallel and Bova Loops are operated under a private-sector partner under contract with State Parks and are located within Allegany State Park. This 65,000-acre park is known for its primitive, forested valleys, un-glaciated landscape, fall leaves, and wildlife. Walkers, runners, and bicycle riders can take advantage of the five miles of paved trails. The Park has some of the finest groomed cross country skiing and mountain bike trails in the Northeast. Snowmobilers are attracted to Allegany State Park for its 90 miles of groomed snowmobile trail. Other activities include bird watching, fishing, hunting, picnicking, snowshoeing, canoeing, and horseback riding. |

PARK IMPROVEMENTS!! A comprehensive rehabilitation project of the Red House Dam will commence during the summer of 2017. The project will require a partial draw down of Red House Lake, which may occur as early as July 5th , depending on the contractors work schedule. Partial draw down of Red House Lake will impact swimming, boating and other recreational activities on the lake. The bridge and roadway over the dam will also be closed to traffic once the project ramps up. The Quaker Lake swimming area and concession operations will be expanded to accommodate park patrons. We thank you for your patience while these important safety and recreation improvements are being made. Check Allegany State Park Facebook page for more detailed information as the project develops. Attention Campers: Sunday Hunting is now permitted in the Quaker Run Area. New Hunting Permit guidelines are in effect for the 2016/17 hunting season in Allegany State Park. For more information please visit nysparks.com and click on the Hunting tab on the Quaker Area or Red House Area page. Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. See HERE for all current swimming closures! Bear Notice: Be advised that you will be camping in bear country. Please do not leave food, garbage, coolers or other containers unattended as these items are an attractant to bears. Please keep fire pits clean by not burning garbage in them. Literature regarding Allegany State Park wildlife policy will be given out upon check-in. To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Access Pass AND Lifetime Liberty Passes are NOT accepted for the Bova and Parallel cottages. NO Tents allowed in Cottage Areas. Smoking is NOT permitted in any of the cottages. Valid reservations allow 1 vehicle free entry at tollbooths. Any additional vehicles must pay the first time through and will be issued car passes upon registration. Pets: Pets are now permitted in Bova cottages 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and Parallel cottages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 13,14 . So that all may enjoy these cottages, please be respectful to our facilities by cleaning up after your pets and leave no trace. Additional cleaning and/or damage charges may be deducted from your security deposit. Only 2 pets per cottage are permitted. Current rabies certificate required. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft outside the cottage. Please do not leave your pet unattended during your stay. Peak Season runs from the end of June to the end of August each year. During Peak Season the cottages are reservable for 7 or 14 day minimums. No longer or shorter reservations will be honored. Non-peak season requires a 2-night minimum. BOVA Cottages are located in the Redhouse Area. PARALLEL Cottages are located in the Quaker Area.
